Brief historical background

In 1983, the late John Beecher floated the idea of formation of Kenya Orthopaedic Association.
The conception was not realized because the orthopods were very few at that time. Much later, Orthopaedic & Trauma Club was formed in Nairobi.

This was the precursor of the Kenya
Orthopaedic Association which held its first Annual General Meeting on 23rd March, 2006 at Panafric Hotel in Nairobi with Prof. L.N Gakuu, as the founder Chairman.

The Council and membership of Kenya Orthopaedic Association is committed to provision of reliable, quality and affordable Orthopaedic care. 

Our Approach & Methodology

In an effort to deliver quality services to our members and their patients, KOA has establish an approach mechanism that seeks to promote both professionalism and in turn enhance our service delivery:

  • Identifying and complying with the requirements of its’ stakeholders.
  • Engaging in quality assurance and control activities of services to patients.
  • Partnering with organizations having a similar or compatible objectives in order to achieve highest quality of standards.
  • Complying with the requirements of the healthcare system as well as relevant statutory andregulatory requirements.
  • Developing mutually beneficial relationships with suppliers and partnering with them in the continual improvement of the quality of their products.
